If you’re looking for a quirky, original and fun gift for that person who is hard to shop for, you don’t have to look too far from our store!
Across the street there’s Schmancy, part of the Trilogy of Awesome ( Schmancy, Nancy and the newly renovated Fancy) that has the kind of toys that pleases the young and the young at heart.
Started by Kristen Rask in 2004, the store carries one of a kind plushies, collectible vinyl figures, keychains and numbered pieces from local and out of town artists:

Kristen is quite an accomplished plushie toy maker herself (check out her “steamed dumplings” and “fortune cookies“…simply genious! ) and  she just published her first book, “Plush You!”. So, while you’re in the area (after buying amazing things from ian!) make sure to run across the street and check out the wonderful world that is Schmancy!!!

We’ve heard the rumours; and, if you’ve been to our Downtown location it looks kinda crazy in here with the upstairs closed off and covered with netting. Well I’m officially telling you that there is nothing to worry about. IAN IS NOT CLOSING. Like I’ve said before we are preparing to convert the upstairs into our new GStar store -in -store!!!! We just moved the clothing that was upstairs back down and integrated it all into the main floor.

We’ve also marked  Engineered Garments, Ever, John Varvatos USA, and Gilded Age  down now to 40% off and Parke & Ronen swimwear to 30% off  yesterday so come by and get a head start before it gets picked through over the weekend!

CLAIM YOUR SUMMER….

You read it right. We want you to claim your summer. Meaning that despite the schizophrenic weather that we’re having , go out and get some color when you can; run through some sprinklers, go to the beach, just have some good old-fashioned summer fun.

To enhance this celebration , we’ve pulled out some of our past-season swimwear at the Downtown store from brands like Modern Amusement, Rogan and LA Sports Club  and marked them down generously to get you inspired. Plus, remember we still have swimwear from this season from Nice Collective and Shipley & Halmos marked down to 40% off! We also have some regular priced trunks from G-Star and Park & Ronen, as well.

So wake yourself up, turn off the television/computer/IPod/whatever and embrace the summer with a vengeance!  Fremont has the Summer Solstice Festival happening this weekend (parade starts at noon on Saturday) so let that kick-start your reclamation process…

SPRING INTO SUMMER WITH WOO!!!!!

Earlier this spring the Fremont shop began carrying Woo and Woo Souvenir by designer Staci Woo.  This northern California born designer’s collection displays colorful print dresses and tops. Woo began her career as an assistant to the acclaimed denim designer, Adriano Goldschmied.

While gaining her designing chops, Staci created sling bags for personal use which became a hit among her family and friends.  Two years later she began her fledgling company by finding and reusing vintage materials to create elegant yet accessible pieces which received rave reviews.

Currently in the Fremont shop we have several pieces that will enhance any summer wardrobe, whether just hanging around Alki or accompanying you on your summer holiday.

There’s a line at the Fremont store that definitely deserves mentioning. KILL CITY, an LA based collection established in 2005 by Drew Bernstein draws its inspiration from music: New Wave, Punk and its subgenres.

TOPO RANCH: CREATING HISTORY
Posted by admin @ June 6, 2008 4:35 pm

It is rare to see a collection that grabs my attention for something in addition to its design, fabrication or anything else “fashion related”; however, I have to tell you about an insipring  line that we carry at the Fremont store.  Created by Alex Breen and his wife,Topo Ranch was isnpired by history after learning that his family once owned a ranch called “El Topo” (Spanish for the prairie dogs that inhabited the area) which they homesteaded after surviving the infamous Donner Party expedition of the 1840s.

Successfully beginning the small operation with tees that they would make and leave in an old wringer washer overnight to create a softer finish, they soon expanded into a full sportswear line of easy and comfortable 100%Organic clothing:

“El Topo” Logo Tee; $39

 ”Saddle Up” Tee; $39

Padre Rick” shadow plaid short sleeve (also available in blue);$75

Mullet” polo; $59

“the Gingham” short sleeve with green top-stitching; $75

Although the Breen family eventually lost the ranch to foreclosure during the Great Depression, the Breens add a winged prairie dog logo to all of their merchandise as an homage to El Topo and to serve as inspiration to reclaim the land once again.
